Get your table ready for Thanksgiving with these adorable DIY: Pumpkin Vases. They make for a great centerpiece that is easy and affordable to do! You can even use it as a hostess gift if you are spending Thanksgiving elsewhere. Here is what you’ll need:

  • Two craft pumpkins. We used craft pumpkins, as opposed to real pumpkins, to make sure that they will last all the way to Thanksgiving. You can also reuse them next fall season and just change out the flowers for a new look! Make sure to check your local hardware store for the best deal on craft pumpkins, we only spent $10 for both pumpkins!
  • Different size and colors of silk flowers. We chose to not use real flowers because we wanted the vase to look fresh all the way through until Thanksgiving. It’s important to get different size flowers to give your pumpkin vases depth.
  • Wire cutters
  • Knife
  • We only spent $25 in total to make this craft!

Cutting the top of the craft pumpkins

When cutting open the top of the craft pumpkin, use a hot knife for a smoother cut.

The first step is to cut open the craft pumpkins. The more flowers that you want to put into the pumpkins, the bigger the hole. We cut just around the stem. If you heat up the knife that you are using first, it will make cutting the craft pumpkin a lot easier! Don’t worry about making the cut perfect because the flowers will cover it up.

Start Arranging the Flowers in your Vase’s

When arranging the flowers in the vase, cut them into individual stems.

Next, cut your flowers using your wire cutters, so each flower stands alone. Set aside any leaves from the bottom of the stem, as we will use them later. Separating the flowers will make it easier to arrange the different flowers into an eye-pleasing bouquet. Select the flowers that you want to place in each pumpkin and arrange them to your taste. Make sure that there is a good variety of flowers in each pumpkin vase to give it lots of color and texture!

Finalizing your floral arrangement

Finalize the floral arrangement so that every guest gets a beautiful view of your pumpkin vase.

The next step is to finalize the arrangement of you flowers. To make sure there is height in your pumpkin vase, place the tallest flowers in the center. You also want to look at the vase at every angle to make sure that no matter where your guests are sitting, they will have a beautiful view. Use the leaves that you cut from the stems in the step above to fill in any holes that you can see; this will add another layer of color!

Start setting your table

Set your table and add the excess floral to the base of the pumpkins to add more color to your table.

Finally, you’ll start setting up your table! We used a red table runner that added to the colors of our flowers. Place the pumpkin vases in the middle of the runner and use the excess flowers and greenery that you didn’t use in the pumpkins to place around the pumpkin vases.

This is the perfect fall decor to add to your Thanksgiving table. Share how yours turned out on our Facebook page; we can’t wait to see how they look!
