The 12 Days of Home Warranties

12 days of home warranty header

Are you planning on giving a home warranty for the holidays? If so, use this holiday-themed blog to explain the ins and outs of a new home warranty plan in a fun way! Of course, you should always go through your contract to understand what is covered, what is excluded, and what limits there are on each item. If you’re gifting a home warranty this season, make sure to attach the following infographic so your giftee will know how to use their home warranty plan!

On the first day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you a welcome booklet and contract.

When you first get a home warranty protection plan through Landmark, you’re sent a welcome book that includes your home warranty contract and outlines what is and is not covered under your plan. You will receive a welcome call, where one of our welcome team members will explain how to use your warranty, answer any questions you have, and help you customize your coverage to fit your home.

On the second day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you the ability to help customize your coverage.

Once you have purchased a home warranty protection plan, you can customize your coverage on your home for a limited time. If you’re getting a home warranty with the sale of a home, you can customize coverage up to 14 days after you close on your home. If you’re purchasing a home warranty in a home you’ve lived in for a while, you have 30 days to customize your coverage.

Customizing your coverage means you can add coverage on additional appliances you may have (for example, if you have a second fridge in your garage) or on your backyard pool or hot tub. You can also remove coverage if it doesn’t fit your home or change your plan entirely if you need something different for your house. It’s up to you, and you can build your plan to fit your needs.

On the third day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you service call fees between $60-$100.

Depending on the plan you choose and your location, your home warranty has a service call fee from $60-$100. You pay this service call fee for a contractor to come to your home and diagnose whatever problem you’re having on your covered systems or appliance. As long as that issue is covered under your contract, Landmark Home Warranty will help repair or replace your system or appliance.

On the fourth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you preventative maintenance coverage.

In every home warranty plan that Landmark offers, you have coverage on preventative maintenance tune-ups in the spring and fall for your HVAC system and furnace. All you have to pay is your service call fee, and a contractor will inspect your HVAC system and get it ready to go for the summer or winter weather. Learn more about HVAC tune-ups here and furnace tune-ups here.

On the fifth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you re-key coverage.

All Landmark Home Warranty plans include All you have to pay is your service call fee, and your door locks can be re-keyed and you’ll be given four copies of your new key. Read more about this coverage in your brochure!

On the sixth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you coverage on your home’s systems.

Every home warranty plan from Landmark offers coverage on a home’s heating, cooling, plumbing, and indoor electrical systems. Although some of this coverage differs depending on your home’s location and the plan you purchase, you can rest easy knowing your major systems in your home are covered by Landmark. Make sure to read your contract to know exactly what is and isn’t covered in your home’s systems, and if you have any caps on coverage.

On the seventh day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you coverage on your home’s major appliances.

Many of Landmark Home Warranty’s plans offer coverage on a home’s major appliances. Depending on what plan you pick, or what coverage you add on after purchasing a plan, you could have coverage on the following items:

  • Kitchen refrigerator
  • Oven, range, and cooktop
  • Dishwasher
  • Built-in microwave oven
  • Garbage disposal
  • Washer/dryer
  • Garage door opener

Make sure to read your contract carefully to ensure you have coverage on any of the items above and you understand what is and is not covered. Remember, you can add coverage in the beginning of your contract year.

On the eighth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you coverage on unlimited HVAC units.

Landmark Home Warranty offers coverage on your home’s HVAC system no matter if you have one unit or a hundred. While some home warranty plans make you pay for each additional HVAC unit you have in your home, Landmark’s plans all cover unlimited numbers of HVAC units with the same coverage, exclusions, and monetary caps— without you paying anything additional in your yearly contract charge.

On the ninth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you high monetary caps on coverage.

As with any home warranty company, there are some monetary caps on coverage in Landmark Home Warranty’s contract. This means that Landmark will pay up to a certain point on covered repairs or replacements, and then the homeowner has to pay for any additional repairs out of pocket. Unlike some home warranty companies who give an overall monetary cap on any and all repairs, there are some repairs in Landmark’s contract that do not have any monetary cap whatsoever! On the coverage items that do have a cap, Landmark’s caps are fairly high, meaning if you do have to pay out of pocket costs for covered repairs, they definitely won’t be as much as you would have to pay without a home warranty plan.

On the tenth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you the ability to open a service request online.

Need to open a service request but you don’t want to sit on the phone? Landmark Home Warranty allows you to open service requests online 24/7. You can easily request service online by logging into your homeowner account and clicking the green Request Repair button. Use this step-by-step guide to open a service request online.

On the eleventh day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you highly awarded customer service.

Landmark Home Warranty is highly ranked and awarded for our customer service. In 2019 alone we received four service and coverage awards. With this highly ranked customer service and coverage, you can expect the best from Landmark.

On the twelfth day of your home warranty plan … your home warranty company gave you the ability to renew online.

Once your coverage term is up, you can easily renew online without having to talk to anyone on the phone. Just go to your homeowner account and renew from there. This handy guide can walk you through renewing your home warranty coverage.
